CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC APPEAL
The people of the Central African Republic are in dire need of humanitarian aid, as war and political unrest have brought the country to its knees. For a small country with just over 4.5 million population – thousands have been killed, wounded and nearly a million are internally displaced.
According to reports, numerous militant groups are operating in the country seeking to take control of its vast mineral wealth. Sadly, Christians have been targeted and they have seen their homes, villages and churches burnt to the ground, as well as priests murdered. One bishop said: “Our country continues to sink into the abyss.”
Aid to the Church in Need is responding to the crisis by channelling emergency aid such as food, medicine, shelter and other basic essentials through our church partners including Bishop Nestor Nongo-Aziagba of Bossangoa. He said: “I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to ACN for the many different ways in which it has supported us during these difficult moments of crisis.”
