Seventh Station - Jesus falls a second time
Seventh Station - Jesus falls a second time
Lord Jesus, once again you fall under the weight of the cross, which symbolises our sins. With this fall you remind us of the difficulty of the path you chose for our salvation. Like you, for more than 30 years the Congolese people have been weighed down by an endless suffering. The war has already reaped over 15 million innocent souls, victims of the injustice, greed and brutality of our world.
Lord, we see this suffering in the legions of women, children and men who search for a little light in a world plunged in the darkness of selfishness. Their pain is deep, but they still believe they might rise up, just as you, Jesus, rose up from your fall. Despite the horror of your way of the cross, you did not abandon it. You got up once more, carrying your cross bravely, an example of hope and perseverance for us all. Like you, may we have the strength to stand up, even when everything seems to hold us down.
In our own lives, may we follow your example, knowing that each fall is not an end, but one more step towards redemption. May your love, Lord, cure the wounds of those who suffer, and be to them a call to hope and to conversion.
Prayer
We think of all the victims of wars and injustice in the world. Let us emulate their perseverance and their faith amidst the suffering. Let us reflect on our indifference and our silence, which sometimes verge on indifference. Let us be artisans of peace and advocates for the poor and the oppressed.
Lord Jesus, you who rose after falling, give us the strength to remain firm in our own trials. Grant the Congolese people the grace of resilience, an unshakable faith despite the difficulties, and the courage to forgive. Lift up, console and sustain those who have fallen. Grant eternal life to the victims. May your peace reign in this suffering country, and may your healing touch each heart. Amen.
