The Situation in Lebanon and Syria

Lebanon and Syria remain countries where faith endures despite unimaginable hardship. As conflict, poverty, and displacement continue to devastate daily life, the Church is often the only source of hope, practical help, and spiritual strength for vulnerable families.

Children standing by a destroyed Church
  • Millions of families are trapped in deep poverty, unable to afford food, medicine, heating or rent.
  • Christian communities flee bombardments, militia violence, and collapsing local economies.
  • Entire villages lie in ruins, with families living in damaged homes or temporary shelters.
  • Church‑run schools and parishes are overwhelmed, struggling to support children and vulnerable families.
  • Priests and Sisters are serving on the front line, often without income, spiritual care, and emergency assistance.
  • Electricity cuts and economic collapse have left families in near darkness, relying on Church aid to survive.
  • In Syria, many Christians who fled during the war cannot return home, and soup kitchens now feed hundreds.
