Soup Lunch with Parish Group
Soup Lunch with Parish Group
Parish group capture imagination of the local community
Written by Parishioner Annie Martin
Our Ealing Parish ACN group will hold its 3rd soup lunch to kick off their 2026 #RedWednesday action. We find it really enjoyable and a great way to bring together the community. We have advertised it as a ‘homemade bread and soup lunch,’ once more, which has proven to be quite an attraction.
In 2026 the lunch raised £1,114, doubled to £2,228 as part of the #RedWednesday matched challenge, to help suffering Christian children & families. Hosting 20 it in our home ( a bit of a squeeze) gave it a more personal touch. This year we will hold a raffle and have an information board for the event and for use in the church. Inspired by Sister Annie, being ACN's guest, we are highlighting Syria and Lebanon along with wider ACN project countries.
Over the last 10 years, #RedWednesday has helped to provide 4 million hot meals to suffering Christian families, sick and elderly in Lebanon, and the need continues.
The Parish Office has been very helpful, as usual, helping publicise the event and ACN’s work. We found setting up and donating with Fundraise Up easy; some guests preferred to give a suggested donation of £20 in cash.
Our group has activities planned in the parish from now to November. As a group, we really enjoy it and look forward to getting the wider community involved with raffles, a local school’s art display, coin collections, information boards, and assisting the parish priest with collections, having an ACN goods stall & coffee morning in the parish before joining ACN for #RedWednesday Holy Mass.
We encourage you to put your faith in action and take action in your community.
