Core RE: Catholic Social Teaching
Bring Catholic Social Teaching to life with this engaging, real-world course centred on ACN’s work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Across six sessions (plus an introductory lesson), students encounter powerful stories of mining communities where even children and the elderly labour in harsh conditions, often for little reward.
Lesson One is available for immediate download. For all other lessons (PowerPoint or Canva presentations), please contact Marie Fahy.
This course shows Catholic Social Teaching (CST) in action, clearly demonstrating a way in which the Church looks after people who are suffering. Focusing on ACN's work in the Democratic Republic of Congo, these differentiated lessons will highlight the fruits of CST as learners are presented with the journeys of real people in real situations as their lives are transformed through the work of ACN.
Taking three of the Curriculum Branches from the Religious Education Directory, ‘Creation and Covenant’, ‘Prophesy and Promise’ and ‘To the Ends of the Earth’, this course facilitates extended learning and space for teachers to adapt the contents for their students.
