The Symbolism of Colour in Icon Painting
Dr Irina Bradley will give a lecture about the spiritual and technical processes of icon painting.
The process of icon creating differs from an ordinary painting. Icons are created by a prayer and for a prayer, an icon expert Irina Yazukova once wrote. The forms and colours are deeply symbolic. The vanishing point is within a viewer, not within the painting, this making a view a part of the icon.
The attendees can also view the Metamorphosis Icons Exhibition displayed at the venue.

Dr Irina Bradley is one of the UK’s leading professional iconographers. She was awarded a doctorate from the Princes’ School of Traditional Arts in London and is a visiting tutor. This year, ACN will benefit from a share the sale of her 16 year body of work.
