ACN is laying a cornerstone of hope in one of the world’s poorest and most forgotten countries. Since ACN (UK) launched Project Liberia, churches, convents, pastoral centres – have already had already undergone such big transformation thanks to the generosity and compassion of ACN benefactors. But, in a country where up to 80 percent of primary children do not go to school, there is still so much to do. So many families are crying out for catechesis and Christian education, new churches and outreach to vulnerable families, especially women and girls.

At just 19, Margaret Mulbah is a shining example of hope for her community in Monrovia. Through an ACN-funded youth programme, she is receiving catechesis training and developing valuable skills to lead youth camps and offer support to disconnected young people. Despite the challenges of poverty, unemployment, and social issues in Liberia, Margaret’s dedication to her community is inspiring.

When the Holy Family Sisters learned that young Susanna was at risk of sexual abuse, Sister Godfrey and her team knew they had to act quickly, relocating Susanna to a haven in Harper, Liberia. Under their loving guidance, Susanna has overcome illiteracy and is now growing in confidence. ACN supports the work of Sisters in Liberia as they care for the vulnerable.
